He walked through the darkened streets, reading the signs as he went, rain pounding around him. There were shops and private residences all around him, but none seemed to suggest anywhere for a traveler to stay. He sighed, and walked down a random alley. He had to find a shelter from this blasted rain.
"So, who're you taking?" Ino asked, "The dance is in three days, and you still haven't decided."
"I... I don't know..." Sakura answered, just staring out at the rain. The fact was, she wasn't sure if there was anyone she could take. Ino had nabbed Sasuke, Naruto was going with Hinata, and all the other boys were either going alone or with someone from their neighborhood. She didn't have any options left.
He continued walking, his long cloak hiding every aspect of him and sheltering him from the rain. At one point he had a box, but it dissolved rather quickly. The rain was getting into everything, and just when he thought it couldn't get worse, he stepped in a pot hole and was drenched up to his shins in water.
"Great..." He muttered.
"Hey, who's that?" Ino asked, pointing out the window at a man in a cloak who was pulling his leg out of a pothole. The cloak hid his features, and he was shaking his head and looking at the rain.
"Is he alright, being out in that storm?" Sakura asked aloud, and Ino just watched him silently.
"Maybe he doesn't have a place to go to get out of the rain..." She said, and Sakura nodded. Then she decided to find out what was with him. No one deserved to be outside in such a storm.
He looked to the right as a door opened and a young woman ran out.
"Hey, are you okay out here?" She asked him.
"Well, not too drenched, save my leg." He answered jokingly. She smiled and pointed to the door.
"You want to come inside? The storm will only get worse..." She told him. As if he didn't know.
"You'd welcome a complete stranger into your home, just because of a storm?" He asked her.
"When the storm is this bad, yes." She answered him. And then he nodded slowly, and they raced to the door.
